OOTD: Try Harder

While I was walking my dog this morning, I thought about this little experiment. It’s making me try harder with my clothes, but it is tiresome at the same time. I suck at photography, and I am in no mood to get better at it, and yet.

And yet? I’m trying harder with things. It made me think of my favorite (defunct, but she wrote this book that’s similar to what it was) blog, Obsessive Consumption. She took photos of everything she purchased for something like 18 months, and they were just these little photos of coffees or paper clips or burritos and it was oddly fascinating without knowing why. It taps into my voyeuristic tendencies, I suppose, and it also makes me want to be more interesting, and to try harder with just about everything in my life.

This is a long rambly way of saying: blogging is weird, but in the best way possible, because it makes me a better human being. So thanks. Thanks for reading and loving my weird non-stylish, wearing the same shoes and sweaters forever self. Always.

Those shoes are adorable. I love your outfit. Also, I think doing one thing regularly lends structure and certainty to our days, once it really gets going.

Now, it’s time for me to try to write my poem of the day.

I feel like even without the audience, the act of writing out your thoughts out forces you to sit down with yourself. To think about things from a different perspective. I always find that therapeutic – the fact that sharing it with an audience (usually) brings further discussion and perspective is such a great bonus.
