Hi! I’m still on vacation (can you believe my laziness?). Today I might do something adventurous, like take a shower without being interrupted twenty times to admire Lego creations. Happy Valentine’s Day to ME!
Jeanette, who writes Craftwhack, wrote the following guest post, and the only thing I can say about Jeanette is that I wish I had her brain.
My 12 year old dog sleeps constantly. When she dreams, her twitches and eyerolls range from mild to seizure-like in intensity, occasionally punctuated by pathetic little whimpers. I’m never sure whether or not to wake her, but sometimes I’ll stroke her head until she opens her eyes. I’ll wonder what she’s dreaming about.
People always say that dogs dream of chasing squirrels or eating giant dog bones, but I wonder if their dreams are just as surreal as human dreams.
We may picture this:
But the dog may be actually dreaming this:
We think they are dreaming this:
When really they’re smack in the middle of a dream-induced acid trip:
So next time your little buddy twitches and moans, don’t condescendingly wonder if she caught the squirrel. Assume she’s mentally morphed you into Mario Lopez or a giant delicious potato.

HA! I love the dog on candy wheel feet. This is hilarious.
Thanks! I’m sure it’s completely accurate, too.
Legend says if you wake the dog she will never catch the rabbit.
That’s funny. That would be a mean trick to play on your dog- just keep waking it up right before you think it will catch the rabbit…
This is hilarious! I love reading your stuff! I have cats, and I think they dream of serial killing dogs and/or me. There’s just something sinister about a cat brain.
Ooh. I agree- I know that all cats hate me with a passionate loathesomeness.
I needed a laugh today! Thanks!
My pleasure. It’s fun to be visiting!
This is hysterical- love the illustrations! We have who I think is a very nice mail carrier named Beth. My dogs disagree and think Beth is a meanie, and I’m pretty sure they often dream about kicking Beth’s ass.
Happy V. day to you
Poor Beth. But it makes for good dreams for the dogs- I think my dog dreams of eating every last bit of food in the world.
I love the dog on wheels with flowers too – should be a toy in the Craftwhack Store! I think about what goes on in animal brains all the time… Great post – love your writing and drawings!
Thanks Ann! Maybe I’ll see if I can make a real one of those and we’ll send it to Shalini for when she returns.
Your dog clearly has excellent taste in men. And apparently is also much better at math than I am.
Ha! She’ll never get Mario, though, because of her nasty cigarette breath.
I’m petrified by the idea that Louis dreams of A.C. Slater. I’m pretty sure Louis dreams of Big Gay Al’s Big Gay Animal Sanctuary.
Wow. That makes me like Louis even more.
It’s fun to visit you here too! Your posts are always so fun and they always make me smile! Nice to read you twice today!
Be careful what you wish for- I’ll start posting every few hours . It’ll be like Craftwhack the reality show. I feel like we’ve broken into Shalini’s house while she’s on her vacation. Everybody! Let’s have a keg party!
That dog on wheels and dreaming of Lopez, potato and smokes is possibly the best thing I’ve ever seen.
It’s a happy dog. Arf!
That’s too cute and may well be true. Great guest post!
Thank you! I’m absolutely sure it’s all true.
Awesome. Love the images. And, I must say, I feel like I should have asked you to do this guest post…would have fit perfectly with my theme
(And clearly as I’ve half-abandoned my blog, a guest post is always welcome!)
Oh! It fits with your theme perfectly. It would be very fun to illustrate your crazy dreams.
